Istanbul to London: The Flight That Made a One-Day Business Trip Possible

Our meeting in London was scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. We also needed to return to Istanbul that same evening.

When we reviewed the scheduled flight options, the plan appeared possible on paper but difficult in practice. We would have needed to arrive at the airport extremely early, travel into central London after landing and leave the meeting early enough to catch the return flight.

A private jet was therefore chartered for our three-person team through a private jet charter broker.

An early, unhurried departure

We met at the general aviation terminal at 6:30 a.m. Because our documents had been submitted to the operations team in advance, the departure process moved quickly. The flight plan, ground handling and our car in London had all been arranged beforehand.

We were airborne shortly after 7:00 a.m.

Preparing for the meeting in the air

A midsize jet was selected for the route. The cabin included facing seats, worktables and power connections for our devices. Breakfast was served after take-off.

During the first part of the flight, we reviewed our presentation. We spread the documents across the table, made a few final changes and discussed the key issues we intended to raise.

Having a private cabin during the journey of approximately four hours was especially valuable. We could discuss sensitive business matters without other passengers nearby. Once the preparation was complete, we closed our laptops and had time to rest.

A meeting that could run its course

A vehicle was waiting when we arrived in London. After passport and baggage procedures, we travelled directly to the meeting location.

We arrived without rushing and without feeling exhausted. The meeting continued longer than expected. With a scheduled return flight, we might have needed to shorten the final discussion. Instead, the departure time could be coordinated with the operations team, allowing the meeting to reach its natural conclusion.

The return to Istanbul

When we returned to the airport that evening, the aircraft was ready. A light dinner was served on board. After reviewing the day, we adjusted the seats for greater comfort and spent the remainder of the flight resting.

It was late when we reached Istanbul, and it had certainly been a long day. However, we had avoided turning one meeting into a two- or three-day trip.

What made the day possible

The greatest benefit was not simply reaching the meeting in greater comfort. It was being able to organise the flight around the business schedule rather than organising the business schedule around the airline.

In some situations, private aviation does more than save time. It makes an otherwise impractical itinerary possible. The same approach applies well beyond London — see how it works for multiple cities in a single day.
